| Welcome to China! You will be met at Beijing International Airport by your professional CITS guide who will escort you directly to Shangri-la, China World Hotel for your three night stay. Shangri-la, China World Hotel is the first one officially rewarded as Five Star Plus Hotel by China’s National Tourism Administration. The rest of the day is yours to spend as you like. |

| Day 3 (Fri) Beijing B, L, D |
| Today youll discover one of the most fascinating cities on earth. Well begin our tour of Beijing at the Gate of Heavenly Peace in historic Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world and the spiritual heart of China. Next well visit the Forbidden City, the grand palaces, temples, ceremonial buildings and living quarters of the Ming and Qing Imperial Courts. Well walk in the footsteps of Emperors, visit the private rooms of concubines and marvel at the priceless collections of jewelry, art and antiques. After lunch well leave the bustle of central Beijing for the northwestern outskirts of the city and the exquisite Summer Palace. More than a single building, the Summer Palace is actually an enormous park where the Emperor and his entourage retreated to escape the summer heat of the city. With its magnificent pavilions, towers and pagodas, peaceful lakes and enchanting landscape, it is not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site; it is the most splendid classical garden in China. |

| Day 4 (Sat) Beijing B, L, D |
| Well take a full-day excursion into the countryside to visit one of the Wonders of the World - The Great Wall of China. An astounding architectural and engineering achievement, construction of the Great Wall began more than 2000 years ago. Today it snakes across approximately 4000 miles of Chinas rugged interior. We will visit the Badaling section, 45 miles north of Beijing. Built during the Ming Dynasty, Badaling is the best preserved section of the Wall. It includes several platforms and watchtowers and is wide enough to accommodate 10 men marching abreast. The views of the surrounding mountains and passes are breathtaking. On our way back to town we will stop at the Ming Dynasty Tombs, the final resting place of 13 emperors. We will walk along the Spirit Way, a sacred path guarded by stone statues of animals, mythical beasts and Imperial officials. We will also visit the Ding Tomb, the burial site of the emperor Wanli and his 2 empresses, the only tomb that has been excavated. We will return to Beijing in time for dinner. |

| After breakfast, you will visit the Temple of Heaven, one of Beijings most significant and recognizable landmarks. Each year the Emperor performed an elaborate ritual in the temple to insure a good harvest and the well-being of the Chinese people. After lunch you will take the short Hainan Airlines flight to Nanjing, Imperial capital of 11 dynasties. Your CITS guide will meet your flight and escort you to the Sofitel Galaxy Hotel (Five Star plus). This afternoon is free to shop, explore Nanjing on your own, enjoy the hotels heated indoor pool or simply relax. |

| Day 6 (Mon) Nanjing B, L, D |
| We will spend a full day visiting Nanjings attractions. Our first stop will be the Mausoleum of Dr Sun Yat-sen, the Father of Modern China. Our next stop is the Nanjing Museum to view the outstanding calligraphy, art and bronze ware collections. After lunch well visit the Nanjing City Wall and the Zhonghua Gate, which was constructed with vertical sliding doors and vaults that could hold thousands of soldiers. Our final stop of the day will be the Confucian Temple built in 1034. The area surrounding the Temple is a popular place for social gatherings especially during the Spring, Lantern, and Mid-Autumn Festivals. There are plenty of street food vendors, the nightlife is colorful and this is a great area to shop for antiques. |

| Day 7 (Tue) Nanjing / Xian by HU7822 (10:50-12:45) B, L, D |
| After a leisurely breakfast, youll board a late morning Hainan Airlines flight. Two hours later you will arrive at the terminus of the fabled Silk Road, the ancient Tang Dynasty capital of Xian. Your flight will be met by a woman widely recognized as the best guide in China, Michelle from CITS. She will escort you to the Sofitel Hotel (Five Star plus). The rest of day is free time. Make sure you get plenty of rest tonight. Tomorrow will be a full day. |

| Day 8 (Wed) Xian B, L, D |
| We will set out early to see the Terracotta Warriors, the most significant archeological find of the 20th century. Discovered in 1974 by a local farmer digging a well, the 6,000 plus life size warriors and horses Cindividually sculpted from real-life models and arranged in battle formation - have been protecting the mausoleum of Chinas first Emperor for more than 2,200 years. You will have plenty of time to view the warriors and to visit the excellent museum at the site. After lunch well visit Xians City Walls. The walls, which were built during the 14th century on much older Tang dynasty foundations, constitute the largest and best-preserved ancient fortress in the world. Our last stop will be at the Bell Tower. Standing in the center of the city since 1582, the Bell Tower is a three-story traditional Chinese structure with an iron bell that was rung hourly to keep everyone within the city walls synchronized to the correct time. |

| Day 9 (Thu) Xian / Hangzhou by HU 7813 (13:20-15:05) B, L, D |
| After breakfast, we will start our day at the Shaanxi Provincial Museum, a grand complex of pavilions built in the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty. The museum collections include a fantastic array of historical relics, ancient artifacts and stone carvings with a special emphasis on the history of The Silk Road. We will also visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the symbol of Xian, built in 652 A.D to house priceless Buddhist sutras from India. After lunch, well board our Hainan Airlines flight and in a little less than 2 hours, well arrive in Hangzhou, another ancient dynastic capital and one of the most beautiful cities in China. Your CITS guide will meet your flight and escort you to the Sofitel West Lake Hotel (5 Star Plus). The rest of the day is free time. Enjoy the hotel facilities, which include a fitness center and heated indoor pool, or take a leisurely walk along the banks of West Lake. The scenic beauty of Hangzhou and West Lake in particular has inspired poets, artists, and nature lovers for centuries. |

| This morning we will tour the Pagoda of Six Harmonies, one of the oldest and tallest structures in Southern China. Next we will visit the Flower Harbor at West Lake. Actually an island, the Flower Harbor is a gorgeous garden with hundreds of different types of flowering plants as well as delightful areas for goldfish viewing. After lunch we will board a pleasure boat to cruise the lake and take in the views of the surrounding hills, lush vegetation, ancient bridges, causeways and pavilions. Later we will stop at Lingyin Temple, a large Buddhist complex containing an impressive collection of art, sculpture and ancient carved tablets. We will end this busy day with a visit to a tea plantation where we will see how tea is cultivated and learn about its extraordinary role in Chinese history and culture. |

| Day 11 (Sat) Hangzhou / Shanghai B, L, D |
| This morning you will board a bus for Shanghai. The three hour ride will go quickly as you sit back and watch the fascinating panorama of Chinese life passing by your window. Your CITS guide will be waiting when the bus pulls into the station. We will safely stow your luggage then take a walk along Nanjing Road, Shanghais premier shopping area and the busiest shopping street in the world. We will continue to the Bund, the historic riverfront district. The Gothic, Neo-Classical, and Art Deco buildings housed the European banks and trading houses that dominated Shanghai early in the 20th Century. After lunch your guide will help you check into your suite at the Hotel Sofitel Shanghai Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong ( 5 Star Plus). |

| After breakfast you will visit the famous Shanghai Museum of Art & History, a fantastic facility that ranks among the great museums of the world. Later we will visit Yu Yuan Garden. More than 400 years old, Yu Yuan contains pavilions, rockeries and several ponds. Its traditional charm is a welcome contrast to the bustle of the ultra modern city that surrounds it. Yu Yuan Garden is a favorite spot for residents of Shanghai to relax and get away from it all. |
